Remember the movie "Ladyhawke"? Did you ever wonder what breed Goliath, Navarre's big black stallion belonged to?

Well, I found out and in so doing learned about another facinating breed of horses--the Friesian. The modern Friesian descends from one of Europe's oldest breeds of warmbloods. The same blood lines that runs through the Lipizzan are present in the Friesian.

The breed is equally skilled at multi-level dressage, trotting, and driving, singly or combined. Its high step and superb natural movement are the result of its long being favored by breeders throughout Northern Europe. Learn more...
